無機質な建造物にインスピレーションを受け直線曲線をいかした抽象画を創作。98年渡米以降、東京・N.Y.を拠点にそれぞれの都市を題材にした数々の作品を発表している。池袋モンパルナス(宇佐美承）で知られる奈良次雄の孫。
Inspired by inorganic structures, Maho uses straight and curved lines to construct abstract images. Alternating between Tokyo and New York since 1998, both cities have informed her work.
Work Description I’m a deliberate doodle artisan.Push and pull is everything.All is push and pull.Colors, shapes and lines like interlocking fingers.The desire to perfect it, but also ruin it.Sometimes I lose. Stealing lines from perfect beginners. Unconsciously drawing - consciously. Trying to think of nothing - but thinking about everything. The most deliberate painting, mistaken for a child’s scribble. Yes! Success! Lay on some color - a flash of light.But lay on the opposite - dark.Words of advice from Mr. Cannata - astonishing! Can’t avoid over-painting, too stiff.Stop, start - now put it down. Later, I see it’s good. But if I stop there it’s hollow, flat. Worth wrecking. Smash it, wreck it - into something new.This is why I over-paint.
